Really decent food + nice folks + 24 hrs = four Yelp stars. Some days are better than others, but the good far outweigh the bad. I'm a big fan of all the breakfast stuff they have, and you ( Yeah!… […]

So, so good. Especially at 2 am, when everyone bands together after a good night out to celebrate their drunkeness with gingerbread chocolate chip pancakes and love migas. I always think I'll branch… […]

Good food whenever you want. I have to say that as a person who knows Cajun food; they know how to make it blackened, creole, or the Acadian way. I have not found another Austin restaurant that… […]

The sights, tastes and smells of Austin, TX

The editors at Conde Nast Traveler answer questions and share travel secrets, tips, and dispatches from the road, and apparently Julia Bainbridge (one of their writers) has a soft spot for Austin.

I think that Julia has nicely captured some of our current mystique, and she reminds me of some things that I ought to go enjoy before the summer is through.

She mentioned our Magnolia Cafe in the category of “good coffee.” I have to agree with her, after drinking a few cups of what they call American-style coffee in Europe this summer, it’s nice to be home.

Here is her lovely article about Austin if you’d like to read it for yourself.

We love Magnolia Cafe and always eat there when we’re near South Congress (which is quite often!) The atmosphere is so fun and the food is so excellent. We have only one suggestion, which is: Please offer gluten-free pancakes! We are sure you can master them (as you’ve mastered the classic pancakes) and if you do, you will be the only place in Austin to have them! It would be so great for everyone avoiding gluten to have fluffy, sweet pancakes in such a lovely restaurant as Magnolia Cafe instead of staying home!
